Artificial Knee Implant
Artificial Knee Implant
Course Project for: MCG4151 Design of Artificial Joint Prostheses and Implants
Team Members: Matthew Barr, Nour Dowedar, Nicholas Faucher, Marie-Pier Laberge
Supervised by: Dr. Andrew Smith
Project Dates: September 2020 - December 2020
The Project
For this project, our team was tasked with researching and designing a artificial joint implant. Furthermore, we had to justify the demand for such a artificial joint.
Our team decided to work on a artificial knee replacement as we already were doing a fair amount of research about the knee for our capstone project. Similar to the capstone project, we aimed our knee replacement at elderly individuals suffering from osteoarthritis.
My Contribution
As the team was similar to that of the capstone project, we all took on similar roles in the group management structure. I handled all of the finite element analysis (FEA) in the project while also providing my input into the design process and contributing to the writing of the reports.
Project Outcomes
Our team designed a artificial knee implant and presented several reports of the design and research process, all of which received great marks from the prof! This project helped to further develop my research, writing and FEA skills.
